How do I schedule a showcase?
Check our Venues to find the right place, then check the Calendar to see what's available.  Email Cathryn to reserve a time and date.  A website or online sample is needed, presskit/demo is not required.

How long do I get to play?
Full band showcases are normally an hour, including set up and tear down, leaving approx. 40 minutes to play.  Solo acts usually play for a half hour, however, set times are always negotiable depending on time availability.

What do I get for playing a showcase?
Most of our venues do not charge a cover so there is no compensation for playing a showcase.   Most venues provide a drink (or two) for performing and in most cases the showcase serves as an audition for a paying gig later.  Selling merchandise, circulating email lists and promo for other shows and soliciting tips is encouraged.  Further, you get the opportunity to meet cool, new bands and combine your fan bases.

Can Listen Local get me a paying gig?
We are NOT a booking agent.  Our goal is to offer showcase opportunities and hook you up with the club's talent buyers so that you can negotiate with them directly.  All of our venues use our showcases as a way to audition new acts.

I’m only 15.  Can I play?
Yes.  Underaged performers are allowed to play any of the Listen Local venues, however, they can only be in the venue while on stage.  We do have several all ages venues as we are happy to provide people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to play.

What do I need to bring to play?
Check the Venues list for Sound info.  Most showcases are run through the venue's system and an engineer is provided.  Some venues provide a backlined drum kit and bass amp, please check the venues section for details.

I only play covers, is that cool?
Listen Local welcomes all music.  We have a venue for every style, age, ability and genre.

What if we get there late?
All of our shows start and run on time.  We post show times and stick to them.  If your band has an hour and takes 40 minutes to set up you'll get 20 minutes to play.  If you get there late you most likely will not get to play.  It's always best to arrive half hour to an hour before your set time.
